Game Notes Session 16

Session XVI Notes:

Gameplay begins the morning after it left off, at the inn in the capital city of Arimathea. Floyd leaves the inn to have breakfast, and the others leave to find a magic shop. Guy asks a random stranger where the magic shop is located, and after the stranger responds rudely, Guy kills him. Virgil helps him escape, while Brix and Chris Tennison are questioned by the authorities, but they are determined not to have been part of the incident.

The party finds its way back to each other, and Floyd dresses Guy up in a more gnome-like outfit so as to avoid being recognized on the streets. They find their way to the magic shop, where they learn that they have to have a city issued permit to purchase magic items. A scuffle breaks out, and the boys and the magic shop owner are apprehended by the authorities. After checking in with the city clerk, the party stands trial, but before a verdict is rendered, the judge is recalled and Faust enters the room. He knocks out Guy, Virgil, and Chris Tennison with a gem, and Floyd and Brix are left to fight Faust off, but to no avail. The party is stripped and placed in the dungeon of the city cathedral of St. Ambrose.

In the cathedral, they discover that Ethan and Zarin are also prisoners, but Zarin seems to be suffering from a sort of identity crisis, referring to himself as Linus. Faust and Nikolai enter the room, where Nikolai threatens the group, and informs them that he “already has his own 18 year-old.” After Nikolai exits, the party manages to free themselves, and Faust tries to run away, but Guy, Floyd, Virgil, Chris Tennison, and Ethan track him down (“Linus” and Brixmore, meanwhile, have gone to find the party’s equipment). The boyd kill Faust, and reunite with Brix and Zarin, who seems to be himself again. They were able to recover some weapons, but not all of them, and none of the boys’ equipment. The party frees Brother Art, and starts to make their way around the castle, when they stumble on Nikolai’s private chambers, where they find som intense hoo-doo evil (summoning circle, evil books, and the like, plus a BIG nasty piece of magic). The party destroys Nikolai’s summoning circle, which apparently took years and the blood of innocents to make, and then make their escape from the cathedral, but not before they hear Nikolai seeing the destruction they had wrought on his room.

After doing some hiding (and obtaining some clothes), the boys make their way back to the magic shop, where all of their magic items were shipped for sale. They recover their items, and grab a couple of other things, before the magic shop owner sets off an alarm and Virgil has to kill him.

The party then returns through the portal to the Shield-Splitter Inn, where they have an oppurtunity to regroup. They spend a week there trying to prioritize, and decide to have a meeting at the Cracked Flagon with Eric and Samarind. They are also given a job offer by a gnome to represent him at an upcoming gnome convention, and they learn that the owner of the Shield Splitter Inn is a member of Ethan’s network. When the session ends, the party is just about ready to embark southward to the Flagon.
